Infrared Sauna was recently featured on the Oprah Show by Dr. Oz as part of a segment covering “High-Tech Ways to Extend Your Life.” Infrared Sauna has many health benefits, like its ability to lower blood pressure, increase blood circulation, burn up to 700 calories, while detoxifying the body.

Dr. Oz says his in-laws introduced him to the infrared sauna, which is slightly different than a normal sauna. “It makes the same rays that come from the sun and filters out the UV radiation, so it only gives you the infrared radiation,” he says. “That radiation that’s infrared goes a little bit into your skin so, without heating you up and the external environment too much, it heats the body up.” After a few minutes in the sauna, Oprah says she’s starting to feel the heat. Dr. Oz says the high temperature helps lower blood pressure and increase blood circulation. “It gets your heart to beat faster, and it burns calories,” Dr. Oz says. “It raises your metabolism a little bit, and also when you sweat, you sweat out toxins through the skin.”

What is radiant heat?
Radiant heat is simply a form of energy that heat objects directly without having to heat the air in between. Radiant heat is also called infrared energy (IR). The infrared segment of the electromagnetic spectrum occurs just below or to red light. This band of light is not visible to human eyes but we can feel this type of light, which we perceive as heat. When this happens, it creates a natural resonance, which has many beneficial properties. The sun is the principle source of radiant energy. Never to be confused with ultra-violet energy. Remember the last time you were sun tanning with sunscreen? Were you hot? Of course you were because the sunscreen only stops the UV (ultraviolet) light from hitting your skin. The Far-Infrared heat (FIR light waves) penetrates your skin, giving you that wonderful feeling of natural warmth.

You can be exposed to Far-Infrared heat for hours and it will never cause your skin to burn. Far-Infrared heat is completely healthy and safe for all living things. In fact, it is so safe that it is used in the hospitals to warm newborn infants.
